Human Capability Credentials

How Human Capability Credentials work

We recognise the capability people demonstrate at work and through their programs, verify it against the Human Capability Standards, and turn it into levelled credentials that can stack toward a qualification. Nothing needs rebuilding.

A credential names the capability, not the course

A certificate says which course someone attended. A credential says what they can do.

The four steps

Built on what already exists

1

Assess

We review a program or role against the Human Capability Standards. We identify the capabilities it develops, the level each sits at, and where the strongest evidence already exists. It works for accredited and non-accredited programs, and for structured roles with no formal program.

2

Verify

We verify evidence of what people actually did at work: workplace artefacts, assessment, application in role and observation. Evidence is reviewed by qualified assessors. Attendance and self-report aren’t enough, and if the evidence falls short, we’ll tell you.

3

Recognise

People receive a digital Human Capability Credential through Credly, levelled, and co-branded or white-labelled by their organisation if it chooses. Each credential names a capability, so it’s clear to any employer or university what that person can do.

4

Pathways

Credentials can stack toward university credit and formal qualifications with our 13 partner universities, where eligible, so people can see where their development leads.

Credential levels

Three levels, from front line to strategic

Every credential is levelled against the Human Capability Standards. The level reflects the scope and complexity of the work where the capability was demonstrated.

Foundation

Capability applied consistently in day-to-day work and in leading a team. Aligned to Australian Qualifications Framework Levels 5 and 6.

Eight Foundation credentials can stack toward a Diploma of Applied Management at Torrens University Australia, where eligible.

Advanced

Capability applied across teams, functions and more complex situations. Aligned to Australian Qualifications Framework Level 8.

Four Advanced Leadership credentials can stack toward a Graduate Certificate of Applied Management at Torrens University Australia, where eligible.

Mastery

Capability that shapes strategy, culture and the wider organisation, demonstrated at senior and executive level.

Pathways for Mastery credentials are confirmed case by case.

With our other partner universities, credit is assessed case by case and depends on the qualification.

University pathways

Recognised by 13 university and pathway partners

Our partners recognise Human Capability Credentials for credit, advanced standing or a full qualification. Arrangements differ between institutions, and eligibility is confirmed case by case.

Questions

Questions we’re usually asked

Can’t see your question here? We’re happy to talk it through.

Do we need to change our program?

You don’t need to rebuild anything. We work with the programs, roles and evidence you already have. If the assessment finds a gap, we’ll tell you, and we can help you close it.

What evidence do people need to provide?

Usually what the program or role already produces: workplace artefacts, assessment results, and examples of applying capability in the role.

Who assesses the evidence?

External, fully qualified assessors review each person’s evidence against the Human Capability Standards. Attendance and self-report aren’t enough on their own.

What if someone’s evidence doesn’t meet the standard?

They don’t receive the credential at that level yet. We explain what’s missing, so they know what to build on.

Does university credit happen automatically?

Arrangements differ between institutions. The Torrens University Australia pathways are set. With our other partners, eligibility is confirmed case by case.

Is this just a digital badge?

It’s issued digitally through Credly, but it’s a levelled credential, verified from evidence, that can contribute toward university credit.

Does this replace accreditation?

Assessment against the Human Capability Standards recognises the capability a program develops. It sits alongside any accreditation a program already holds.

Can the credentials carry our brand?

Yes. Credentials can be co-branded with your organisation, or white-labelled.
